Client:
The Cutlers’ Hall offers a magnificent setting for events, celebrations and conferences in the heart of Sheffield. Rich in history, grandeur and timeless elegance, this Grade II listed building has a variety of stunning spaces available to hire.
Problem:
Richard Vardy at Cutlers’ Hall commented, “Due to the historic nature of our venue, getting wheelchairs in and out safely has been a challenge for many years and, being a listed building, making structural changes to accommodate an internal lift was not a viable option. So, to maintain the integrity of the building, we sought a discreet lift option to improve accessibility from the street level up to the main entrance, opening up our range of spaces to wheelchair users and people with mobility issues.”
Mr Vardy conducted online research to find a suitable product and a reliable provider. He said, “After contacting a number of companies, Evolifts became a logical choice. We were looking for a competitive cost, of course, but we also needed a sense of reassurance and we got that from Evolifts. Their communications were clear and regular so it felt more like having a conversation rather than having to extract every bit of information. Importantly, we knew that our requirements were fully understood. Throughout the entire process, Evolifts were transparent with costings and we received great feedback from them at every stage.”
“My advice to others would be to do careful research before selecting a company because some providers’ online information proved to be inaccurate. I would also say, think hard about exactly what you need from the lift both now and in the future; requirements change over time and you don’t want to be left with something that is no longer fit for purpose.”
Solution:
Evolifts conducted a detailed survey and recommended an EVO200 Inclined Platform Stairlift which met the brief perfectly. Aesthetically discreet, it folds to a narrow profile, and it could incorporate a 90 degree turn, perfect for accessing The Cutlers’ Hall from a parked street level location to its main entrance top step. Manufactured in Austria, this solution is widely recognised as a best in class top-quality product yet is engineered for a fast install with no structural modifications. Evolifts installed the lift in just one day in line with Cutlers’ Hall’s busy event schedule.
Mr Vardy concluded, “This upgrade ensures that all our guests can enjoy a seamless and welcoming experience, reinforcing our commitment to inclusivity. We have had extremely positive feedback from members of the public too, the overall feeling being that users feel safe and secure, and the lift is simple to use. We are delighted with the result.”
